you are floating in a tank of salt water, when suddenly the tank dissolves and you are floating in the ocean. as the ocean evaporates, and you float into the white nothingness above you, this album plays.
Favorite track: ATELIER4.
'ATELIER / FERME' is the debut collaboration between buddies Object Agency and Swim Platførm, as the two combine trumpet, guitar, saxophone and an array of vintage synths on a series of sleek, heady instrumentals.
Recorded in Strasbourg, ATELIER sees pin-sharp found sounds woven amongst cavernous clicks, pops and weirdly synthesised voices to form an addictive, technodelic bricolage. Think Domenique Dumont floating in a sensory deprivation tank, or Joe Hisaishi enjoying a fine wine tasting holiday in Alsace.
ALTITUDE 1 is a hypnotic live jam recorded at Swim Platførm's home in Brussels, and features Devon Loch on sax. The FERME sessions of side B, recorded live in Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines, are all brooding orchestral stabs shot through folds of analogue organ, conjured from a snow-covered cabin. Recommended for fans of To Rococo Rot and Huerco S.
Tape purchase includes full download plus 4 bonus FERME tracks!

A gorgeous birth to a now striving force in vaporwave music, 'Atarashī Hi no Tanjō' can only be seen in my eyes as the greatest ambient album of all time.
From its rolling samples of Japan's sleepless transit systems through to the intimate use of vocal samples throughout, the dynamic duo of HKE and t e l e p a t h cannot be praised enough for this modern classic, ever evoking that same sense of mystique I caught when I stepped off the sub-express to Moriguchi for the very first time.
